Supporting Excellence, 2018 Fall Giving Campaign

Dear Whitaker Families,Screen Shot 2015-08-09 at 12.31.30 PM

It is time to make our annual financial commitment to Whitaker Elementary School. By contributing to the Whitaker Circle of Commitment, Inc., (the Circle) you are supporting the education experience in ways that would otherwise go unfunded.

In July of 2015, the Circle was formed as a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization with the mission to enhance the educational environment at Whitaker Elementary School. As the financial gap between the school’s resource needs and available funds continued to widen, the Circle provided a new vehicle to maintain and enhance programming.

Circle funds are at work in all aspects of our school. During its first three years, funding generated by the Circle has purchased stage upgrades and A/V equipment for Whitaker performances, science explorer tables in Kindergarten classrooms, a classroom set of Chromebooks and Chromebook carts, calculators for the upper grades, new and updated leveled readers for the lower grade levels, and the check-in software in the office aimed at increasing our safety. The funds raised by the Circle have also supported professional development for teachers and subsidized Dancing in the Classrooms for fifth graders.

This year, Circle funds will support additional professional development for staff so that teachers are better equipped to build Whitaker students’ leadership and problem-solving skills as they grow and learn. The Circle provides the school with funding flexibility enabling the school to attract and retain superior teachers. Offering professional development courses and training specific to our faculty and students’ needs is a crucial element in the educational advancement of our students.  Lastly, the Circle is looking at classroom and recreation upgrades needed in the coming year to ensure Whitaker Elementary has the facilities, materials, and staff to offer our children the highest quality learning experience.

The 2018 campaign goal is $50,000 and 100% family participation. We need your help to achieve these goals! During the second week of the campaign, students are encouraged to bring in coins to help raise funds. In 2017, the coin drive raised $1,800 to install two more fountains for refilling water bottles so that all halls have a water filling station.

I ask that you join me in supporting this campaign. While a suggested donation is $100 per child, gifts of any size are important and welcome. One hundred percent participation is our goal! Collectively, our Whitaker family gifts can ensure our students have the best resources possible. Please find the Giving Campaign brochure in this packet for additional information and a giving form. Thank you for supporting excellence at Whitaker!
